Accessing Your Courses

After logging in, you’ll see the ‘My Courses’ widget on the homepage. This widget displays all your enrolled courses, typically organized by semester or role. You can scroll through to find the course you need. Courses are represented by tiles, each showing the course name, code, and instructor. Clicking on a tile will take you directly into that specific course.

Using the Course Selector

The ‘Course Selector’ icon, located in the minibar at the top of the page, is another way to access your courses. Clicking on this icon will bring up a list of your courses. From here, you can search for a course by name, or pin courses to keep them at the top of the list for easy access.

Organizing Your Courses

You can pin or unpin courses in the ‘Couse Selector’ for quick access. To pin a course, click on the pin icon next to the course name in the ‘Couse Selector’. Pinned courses will stay at the top of the list. See the image above. If you’re having trouble finding a course, go to ‘View All Courses’ and use the ‘Search’ bar within the Course Selector. Start typing the course name or code, and it will filter the list accordingly. Here you can see the pinned courses as well.

Navigating Within a Course

Once inside a course, the ‘Course Navbar’ at the top provides access to different tools and sections, such as ‘Content’, ‘Assignments’, ‘Grades’, and ‘Discussions’. The ‘Content’ area is where you’ll find all your course materials, organized into modules. You can navigate through these modules by clicking on them in the left-hand menu.

Viewing Course Announcements and Updates

• ‘Announcements’ are displayed on the course homepage and provide important updates from your instructor. Make sure to check them regularly to stay informed about any changes or important information related to the course. 
• The ‘Work To Do’ widget on the course homepage will notify you of new submissions, unread discussion posts, and other course activities.

Using the Calendar

The ‘Calendar’ tool, accessible from the course homepage or the navbar, displays upcoming due dates and course events. You can click on specific dates to see detailed information about assignments, exams, or other important events. See image above.

Accessing Help and Support

If you need assistance navigating your courses, look for the ‘Help’ option in the minibar. This provides access to Brightspace support resources, including tutorials and FAQs.
