Change image of the course banner

The courses you are registered for can be seen on your personal homepage. It is possible to customize the banner with your own photos. The image you add here will be visible to all users.

Go to the ‘Course‘ whose banner you want to customize.
Hover over the top right corner of the image. Click on the three dots that appear.
Click on ‘Change Image’.
Click ‘Upload‘ to upload your own image or choose one of the images from the library.
Scroll down for more images. Then click on ‘Use this image’.
The photo will now be visible to everyone in the course.

Customize the course images through the course itself

You can also change the image from within the course. The result is the same.

Go to the homepage of the ‘Course‘ for which you want to change the banner.
Click on the three dots in the top right corner of the banner.
Click on ‘Change Image‘. The rest of the steps are the same as changing the image on the Home page.

An uploaded image may display differently than intended, as Brightspace automatically adjusts screen resolution and size to optimize the user experience on different devices. The default image resolution is 1200 x 300 pixels.

Customize the banner text from your course

This is specifically about changing the course banner. A course name can only be changed via Osiris or via Local Support. If you want to change or adjust the text in your course banner, here is what you need to do:

Select the course you want to rename.
Click on the three dots in the top right corner of the welcome banner.
Click on ‘Customize Banner Text’.
Type in the name you want to give your course. You can choose between the course name, a name of your own, or no name.
Click on ‘Save’.
