Set notifications

To turn different types of notifications on and off, follow these steps:

  1. Go to notification settings
    Log in to Brightspace, click on your name in the top right corner, and select Notifications from the menu.
  2. Email notifications
    Brightspace automatically sets you to receive a notification of the following events via your institution’s email address:
  • A new announcement
  • Update of an announcement
  • Feedback for an assignment
  • Update of feedback for an assignment
  • A new grade
  • Update of a grade

3. Phone notifications
For direct updates on your phone, download the Brightspace Pulse app.

4. Summary of Activity
Scroll down a bit to the Summary of Activity heading. Here you can choose whether and how often you want to receive an email with a summary of the activities within a course; daily, weekly or never. You can choose on which day and time you want to receive these notifications.

  1. Customize various notifications
    Scroll down until you see the heading Instant Notifications. Below you will find a list of all possible notifications, followed by a checkbox. If the checkbox is checked, you will receive this notification at the email address specified above. There are all kinds of notifications, from announcements and content, to assignments, tests and grades. See point 9 for a full list of notifications.

In the example below, the student only receives a notification if content has been added to the course.

  1. Customize the content of a notification
    Scroll down to Customize Notifications. Here you can adjust whether the value of your grade is shown in the notification, or whether you want to receive notifications for courses that have not yet started.
  1. Exclude Courses
    Scroll all the way down to the Exclude Some Courses heading.

Klik hier op Manage my course exclusions zodat er een pop-up verschijnt met een lijstje met jouw cursussen.

Klik rechts naast de cursus op het kruisje om de cursus uit te sluiten. Om weer meldingen te ontvangen van de cursus klik je rechts naast de cursus op het ronde pijltje.

Don’t forget to save your changes using the blue “Save” button at the bottom left of the screen.

  • Activity Feed- new posts created by others
  • Announcements – announcement updated
  • Announcements- new announcement available
  • Assignments- assignment due date or end date is 2 days away
  • Assignments – assignment feedback has been released
  • Assignments – assignment feedback has been updated
  • Assignments – publish all feedback completion
  • Content- content item created
  • Content- content item updated
  • Content Service- feedback for content service uploads
  • Discussions- mentioned in a discussion post or thread
  • Discussions- new post in a forum, topic or thread that I subscribed to in instant notifications
  • Grades – grade item released
  • Grades – grade item updated
  • Quizzes- quiz due date or end date is 2 days away
